No7 Dramatic Lift mascara

Hello everyone,

I know I've been MIA and I don't really have a reason why, I've just been too lazy! I think it's because trying to blog everyday is difficult. So I've decided that I'll try once a week and if that's easier I'll slowly add more days, but if I feel like posting more I will.

Today I thought I'd do a review on the No7 Dramatic Lift mascara. I love this mascara (and I'm not just saying it because I work for No7, it's coming from my own opinion!) Whenever I wear this mascara at work I have people telling me my lashes are fake or I've curled my lashes which is why they look so long, and honestly it's not. It's the mascara!

It's been proven to lift the lashes by 70% and creates weightless volume so that your eyes appear wide awake. As you can see from the photo, the eye with mascara looks wider and opened up compared to the eye without. It has a curved brush which is able to reach all the lashes as it fits the shape of your eye.

This mascara plus all other No7 mascaras (excluding those cheaper) are on offer for £10 at the moment and we have a buy one get a second half price. That's two mascaras for £15!

I'd recommend getting this mascara as I'm in love with it and all the customers I've sold it too say how much they love it as well!

I'll probably be posting more now as I have one day off next week and then I'm off work for a week. During that week (Saturday 8th- Saturday 15th) I'll try to post as much as I can about what I've been up too!

Until next time,

What I got for my 20th birthday

Hello everyone,

So I thought I'd write a blog on what I got for my 20th birthday.

I went to London for the day so I spent the money I was given. I got a lot of money which I spent on MACs New York Apple lipstick. I've not seen this shade in the stores where I live but I fell in love instantly! It was the first shade I saw as soon as I walked over to the lipstick.

I also brought a couple of MAC brushes- 195 and 226. I've used these brushes while doing my makeup at work and I love them!

I treated myself to a Longchamp bag. I have a makeup bag of theirs and I love it so I thought I'd get myself a bag. I got the biggest sized bag they do. I chose the grey colour, it's more of a dark grey than a light grey.

I went into TKMaxx and saw a pair of vans which luckily were my size. I've wanted another pair for ages but never got round to buying a pair. I also brought a 'to do' list. This has helped a lot with blogging. I can plan when I'm going to blog and I can take it on the go with me.

I went into Victoria's Secret and brought 3 pairs of knickers for £27! I love them, they're so comfy and I love the style and colours I chose.

Just before we were going to leave, I went into the body shop and got my free birthday present. I got the green tea body scrub bar and lip balm. As the birthday gift is a max of £5, so I paid 90p extra as the bar came to £4.

As for presents I got pandora earrings from my boyfriend (they match the ring he got me at Christmas) and a Yankee candle which smells amazing! Fat face vouchers; it was a cardigan but I wasn't too sure on it so I exchanged it for vouchers, havaianas, porrfessional, hooks bronzer and primer potion.

I am thankful for what I got and I had a really great birthday!

New name

Hello everyone,

So I know I changed my name a few months back but thinking about it the other day, I couldn't make a Twitter and an Instagram with that name. 1) because it's too long for Twitter and 2) it just didn't feel right as an Instagram name!

I thought hmm okay, I want something to do with makeup but can also be a general blog. And seeing as everyone wears and loves lipstick (even people who don't write beauty blogs) I thought that would be the best name.

I haven't really got much to say on this post but I thought I'd write one so that you know that I've changed my name and so you don't get confused! Go and follow my new Instagram and Twitter; heartlipstick. I'm following back!

Enjoy the rest of your day guys.

Update in life

Good morning everyone,

Just a quick update in the life of Sara. I sat last night thinking about how much I'd love to have a lifestyle (kinda) blog so thought I'd add it to this one! It'll include things like baking, bedroom DIYs, those kinda things.

Everything is going well in my life ATM, I'm getting a load of makeup tomorrow for my birthday so on Saturday I'll be doing a first impressions blog about what I go, but it'll go up Monday! I'll also write a what I got for my birthday blog too.

As I'm going to London tomorrow I'll be taking pictures and posting them on Instagram so if you would like to give me a follow, go ahead, I'm not stopping you.

Another quick update (although this happens quite a lot and maybe one of you will be able to give me an answer, o think it's down to anxiety but I'm not sure. My hands shake like 89% of the time. Whether I'm at home or in bed or around people, I shake. I have no idea how or why I do it, I just thought that maybe one of you would be able to tell me why I shake and what causes it.

Anyway enough with me blabbering no, I hope you all have a great week and I love you all!

Sorry

Hello everyone,

This is a quick post just to tell you that I may post maybe one or two blogs this week.

My boyfriend is going through something really personal so I need to be there for him, hence why I'll probably not be posting.

It's been going on for some time but I was told over the weekend so I haven't really had my mind in blogging mode ATM. As of next week (over the weekend) I should be back up and back to normal- apart from Wednesday as its my 20th so I'll be spending the day with my boyfriend and going to London. I'll try and take as many pictures as I can and will post about it!

I'm really sorry for no posts lately, it's been a tough time. I hope you can understand!

Sara xxx

Forgot to say, I'll probably be reducing the amount of times I blog a week as its very difficult to blog everyday when I'm working full time. I'll keep Friday as a weekly reflection but combined the other 4 days into two days during the week- possibly Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I'll still be giving advice but it may only be a short blog from now on, and the other days will be all sorts of beauty related blogs now rather than keeping to tips, reviews and looks. I'll add in some DIYs, makeup looks, OOTD, and just changing it up slightly so it's not the same thing over and over again. That way it's not boring for you guys!

Wednesday's Hot or Not- Dr Organic organic snail gel

Hello everyone,

I know the title sounds really gross but trust me it's not. I've already given information about this product in my skincare routine so I'm not going to go into too much detail about it.

Although the thought of putting snail gel onto your skin does sound disgusting and not quite nice, it's been developed and is only part of what a snail uses to fix its shell. That's where the got the idea from, they could see how well it fixes a snails shell that they thought it would work for humans too. It's an amazing product which does feel great on my skin, and it's actually been helping my eyebrows to grow! Since using it my brows have grown back quicker and fuller than before and it's taken me ages to find this product!

Seeing as I didn't buy this, I'm not sure how much it cost. I got mine in May's YouBeauty Discovery box which is great value for £6.95. Unfortunately it's an English company and they don't post internationally (sorry). But if you can find this on the internet I'd definitely buy it! I love the stuff and it has a really pleasant smell.

I'd 100% recommend this product!

Tuesday's tip- drinking water

Hello everyone,

Again I'm sorry for this post on being uploaded last night! I will however also be posting Wednesday's blog up later this evening too!

Now a lot of you may already know this tip but ideally you should drink 6-8 glasses of water a day! Believe it or not, but water helps to clear your skin of any toxins (as well as keep your skin hydrated!) Water also helps with weight loss- now I'm not saying that you need to lose weight, but if you drink a big glass of water before every meal it helps to speed up your metabolism and helps you to realise you're full so you're not stuffing your face and feeling sick (guilty).

I take a bottle of water to work with me which is a litre. I then go home and will either fill that bottle up again or I'll get a glass of water and keep topping it up. I've noticed that my skin isn't as dehydrated as before and I can tell a difference in the amount of spots I have!

Drink Your Water!!

Motivational Monday

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry this wasn't posted yesterday, I was going to write it during my break at work but I had to go and buy food and by the time I was back I was just too hungry!

Today's MM is about doing what makes you happy! If you find something you really enjoy then do it! Don't listen to what people say! If singing makes you happy then sing, if reading makes you happy then read, if baking makes you happy then bake! If you get pleasure out of something you enjoy then forget what people say! They probably are jealous that they haven't found anything which makes them happy. If someone puts you down because they don't like what you're doing and how happy it's making you, DON'T LISTEN TO THEM!

I can't stress this enough, but guys, if you're happy then that's all that matters in life. No body wants to do something which will make them miserable!

Weekly reflection

Hello everyone,

So I know I didn't post yesterday, but with starting work so early it's difficult. I've decided that it'll be just regular makeup looks as well as celebrity inspired. I get every third Thursday off work so those will be the days I do celebrity looks. The other Thursday's will be makeup looks I've worn to work.

Anyway this week has been very busy! I've been at work Monday through to Thursday! Now don't get me wrong, I love my job, but standing on my feet ALL day isn't great!

Not a lot happened during the week, it was busy some days and others it wasn't. There are ways time where it's quiet but it's always busy around lunch time as everyone is on their lunch break. I found out that my training starts in September and this will probably be in London (wish me luck when traveling up there on my own!)

This week I've been looking forward to the weekend as my boyfriend (Ollie) and I are going to his cousins wedding! I will be posting a quick blog post before about my outfit, makeup and hair. I will also be posting pictures on my Instagram so you can see previews.

I'll post tomorow so you can all see my outfit! I can't wait!

Wednesday's Hot or Not- Rimmel Undercover Shadow Primer

Hello everyone,

Todays hot or not is on the Rimmel Eye shadow primer. Now I love the Urban Decay primer potion, but I'm not willing to constantly spend the money on it when I need a new one. So I thought I'd give the Rimmel primer a chance and see if it could be a dupe for the primer potion.

I wouldn't say this is a dupe as the consistency is completely different to the primer potion, but it's great under my MAC paint pot. I noticed with this that it lasted a lot longer than just the paint pot on its own, but it did still crease which was annoying- it took a lot longer to crease though.

I would say this is a good alternative to the primer potion if you don't want to spend the money- £4.99!

Tuesday's tip- Serums

Hello everyone,

This is a really short blog as the tip I'm about to give you doesn't need that much explaining.

As you know people use serums but some people are actually using them wrong. When I say wrong I don't mean they're drinking it, I mean the application in which they're using is wrong. If you live in the UK (like I do) you'll notice that No7- no I'm not promoting the brand I work for, have released an advert for their serum which is still scientifically proven to work after a year. Now before I started working for No7, if I'd have been given a serum I'd have just applied as much as I wished and rubbed it into my face. WRONG! It's completely wrong!!

When applying a serum, you need literally a pea sized amount. Trust me, it'll cover the whole face! Rub the product between your fingers to warm it up and to get an even distribution, then roll it into the skin. By rolling I mean placing your index finger on your face, then your middle and ring finger (while lifting the index finger slightly) then your little finger. When your little finger has touched the skin, both the index and middle finger should be lifted off of your face.

This is a tip I learnt while on the job selling the serums which have been very popular and have had women come back for more tubes! At the moment boots are having a 3 for 2 and if you spend over £4, you will also get a voucher which enables you to get an extra £5 off No7 skincare.

You can apply serums morning and night. This is another thing people get wrong. As most bottles do t state you can use it bothe morning and night, people only apply it once a day! You can apply it both morning and night!!! Make sure you apply your serum after your skincare routine and before your moisturiser to really help it sink into the skin.

Sorry if this seemed rambling and short, I've not been able to chose what to write about so I picked this as its fresh in my brain.

Motivational Monday

Hello everyone,

So I've decided that I'm changing motivational Monday slightly. I'll still be giving you advice but it covers all sorts of advice, from writing a blog, to jobs, even to relationships. I just thought it gives me something else to talk about instead of boring you all and repeating myself (which will probably happen!)

Today's MM is going to be about starting a blog. I should be the best at giving advice seeing as this is my third blog I've had. I always thought about writing a blog and how easy it would be, but if I'm totally honest, it's not that easy! You have to keep a topic, writing at least twice a week to keep your viewers happy and have something to write about!

For me it's always been beauty I've wanted to write about (and now I have a job on a beauty counter, it'll be easier for me to give you guys tips!) I have 6 bullet points for you guys and I'll break them down further so it's easier to understand.

• Find a topic you enjoy. This seems like a really obvious point but it is important. If you start writing about flowers and then decide you're not interested in them anymore, what are you going to do? You could either change topic and really confuse everyone or you could continue and not enjoy it. Think about a hobbie or something you've been interested in for years and know you won't lose interest.

• Plan when you're going to blog. This is also an obvious point but if you just think okay I'll write a quick blog now and then leave it for 3 weeks, you're readers will wonder what's happened to you. Start out at once or maybe twice a week to keep your readers coming back, and if you feel up to it slowly add more days!

• Don't beat yourself up if you miss a day. I've done this loads and gotten myself into such a state where I've felt like quitting blogging altogether, but when I think about it it doesn't matter if I miss a day. I'm the person in control of the blog- yes the readers may get a bit unhappy if you don't blog when you say you're going too, but it's your blog! If you were busy that day and just forgot to write a blog or it was too late then don't worry about what writing a blog!

• Invest in a notebook so you can plan on the go. If you're on the move a lot and a blog idea comes to mind, write it down! This will help you to remember what you wanted to write about, even if it's a key word like 'tulips'. It will help you to remember what you were going to blog about. It's also a good idea as it helps you see what you've written, what you're going to write and helps you plan it out better.

• Be original and yourself. Don't follow the crowd. Do what makes you happy because at the end of the day, that's all that matters!

• Don't copy people- adapt it in your own way. If you like an idea, see how you can change it. I changed some ideas from YouTubers and changed it to how I wanted too! If you copy what someone writes or take their idea then people will lose interest as they've seen or read it before.

I hope this has been helpful to you all!

My recent absence

Hello everyone,

I'm so sorry I haven't posted over the last couple of days! It's not that I'm lazy or couldn't be bothered, it's because I started my new job! I got a call Monday afternoon offering me a full time job as a No7 Beauty Advisor.

I have finally been given my rotor so I know when I'm off and can plan writing blogs around that. I'm off on Sunday so will write most blogs I was going to write this week then. Also if on Thursday I'm unable to write a blog, I'll write it and post it Friday as that's my day off this week. I'll try and get as many done as I can on Sunday but I thought I'd give you a quick update as to why I haven't posted.

Thanks for being patient guys, I love you all!

Weekly reflection and blog changes

Hello everyone,

So I'm trying something different. I'm doing a weekly refection and I'm also going to be telling you about the changes that are happening to my blog.

This week has been a bit different. As I haven't got a job at the moment, I haven't been doing much apart from sitting around the house, thinking of new ways to change my blog and also how to get lots more people reading my blog so I can work from home just working on blogs all day! Now I know that will take some time, so in the meantime I've been looking for jobs.

On Monday I went shopping with my mum and sister. I didn't get much while I was there- I have a bluewater haul up! While I was up at bluewater, I got an email from Boots for a job interview. Tuesday I didn't do much apart from decide what I was going to wear for my interview and then wrote a blog. On Wednesday I spent the day Googling how I can make money from home, or from my blog, or even through doing vine! I was and am seriously considering starting vines. I have a channel already so it would just be thinking of what I could vine and how I would do it. Also who I would vine with.

On Thursday I went to my nan and grandads. I don't get to see them as often as I'd like too because we moved away when I was 14. We didn't move too far but it's still difficult to see them as I don't drive. If I drove, I would be over there a lot more to visit them as I enjoy spending time with them. Hopefully if I get a job, I will start saving for lessons and a car.

On Friday I had my job interview. The interview is for Boots, as a No7 beauty consultant. This is what I have been wanting to do for the longest time! I have wanted to work on a makeup counter, or in beauty for such a long time and hopefully I'll get the job!

When it comes to writing my blogs, I normally just start writing and see where it takes me. But on Saturday, I was at my boyfriends house and was able to have a think about what I wanted to do with my blog, how I wanted to progress it so it expands and more people read it. While I was thinking about how I was going to lay out my weekly reflections, I had an idea of how I could change my blog.

On Mondays I've decided to start doing something called 'Motivational Monday'. This will consist of advice for you guys and help if you're just starting a blog, or if you want to change your blog around.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are beauty related blogs. On Tuesdays I am starting something called 'Tuesdays Tip'. This is where I give you little tips and tricks to do with makeup or skincare or haircare. On Wednesdays I am doing 'Hot or Not'. This will be on products I have tried and tested, as well as recommendations from you lot who want to try a product but are unsure whether to buy it. On Thursdays I will be doing a 'Get The Look'. This will involve me finding celebrity pictures and doing a get the look on them. This will be my own spin on the makeup they're wearing, so its easy for you guys to recreate, and also finding outfits which are cheaper and more affordable. On Friday I will be doing my weekly reflection which I spoke about in a previous blog. This is just where I reflect on the week, set myself goals, find out what I have gained from the previous week and I will also be setting monthly goals.

This will mean that over the weekend I will be dedicating my time to writing some blogs for the week ahead, One I will be doing in particular over the weekend will be Thursdays blog as it gives me more time to find outfits, change the makeup look up etc.

L'oréal casting sunkiss jelly review

Hello everyone,

I was going to do a MOTD blog today, but completely forgot and didn't take a picture before I took my makeup off, so I had to think of what I was going to post and then I remembered I wanted to do a review on the L'oréal casting sunkiss jelly!

Now I first got this product a year ago. I saw it advertised on the TV roughly this time last year and thought to myself 'I want to try that!' So I went to the shop and brought it. I read through what I was meant to do with it and thought it was pretty easy. I was 100% right! It says you can use it on both wet and dry hair, so I decided to use it on wet hair as it said heat makes it more intense.

I applied it after my shower, brushed my hair to make sure it was distributed throughout the whole of my hair and used a hair dryer. Now, it says it takes 3-5 uses, but after using it once I noticed a big difference! You can apply it all over your hair (like I did) it just on the ends to create an ombré effect. I haven't tried the ombré effect yet because knowing me it'll come out wrong and I'll look stupid, so I haven't braved it yet! I may try it when my hair gets a bit longer, but till then, I'll just apply it all over.

This stuff is amazing, seriously I love it! I'm on my third tube of it, as I brought it near the end of summer last year and thought I'd only use it during the summer period. I've almost finished this bottle too, that's how much I love it and how crazy it works! The reason it lightens the hair is because it contain hydrogen peroxide, so you do have to be very careful. Although the saying that, I don't wear the gloves they supply you with as I don't feel a burning sensation on my hands, but if you have sensitive skin then I'd use the gloves to be on the safe side. I have also used it on dry hair, which is better in a way as you can see when you've got product and where you've missed hair out, but in my opinion, and this is my personal opinion, I found it didn't work as well and it made my hair go greasy. If you prefer to use it on dry hair then be my guest, I'm not stopping you. I just didn't like it compared to wet hair.

I work in small sections at a time. I'll apply a small amount into my hand and work it in, making sure I cover all the areas of my scalp, and I then brush my hair to evenly distribute the product.

I would recommend this if you don't have the money to go to the hairdressers to get your hair done, or if you want to gradually lighten your hair!

Completely different post

Hello everyone,

I know today isn't a normal blogging day, but I was thinking about what blog I should write this week. I know this blog is dedicated to beauty but if there is anything you guys would like to see posts about then let me know. It gives us a chance to interact and it means I can post things you guys want to see. This can be things from celebrity inspired looks, to dupes, to Q&As. Literally anything!

I know this is a different post but I wanted to let you guys know that I want to take you into consideration when writing my blogs. I also think that maybe once a week, I will be writing a post about how I feel or what I've been up to in the week. I might call it something like 'weekly reflection' and I'll probably write it Friday and it'll be posted over the weekend. I will start this week so you can get used to it. I just feel like I have other things to talk about as well as beauty, and I have thought about making a separate blog for this, but I thought to myself, who would read just another blog about someone's life. This is why I thought about posting a weekly reflection on things I've done during the week,

Obviously I'll try this for a few weeks and get your feedback as to whether or not you want me to keep on writing a weekly reflection. If you decide you don't want me to keep it, I will make a new blog where I am able to get how I'm feeling out and about what I have done. If I start a YouTube channel (which in the future I plan on doing), I will post vlogs, which will act as my weekly reflections.

Sorry for this really random and different post, I hope you don't mind that this is what I've decided to do. I have a lot to say, but don't know where or how to express these feelings.

Bluewater Haul

Hello everyone,

So yesterday I went shopping with my mum and sister to Bluewater (my closest shopping mall) and I thought that it would be the perfect time to do a haul blog. I didn't buy any make up... Well apart from a primer. I actually didn't get a lot of things while I was shopping.

I looked in a lot of shops but didn't really see much I wanted. I did however know of some things I wanted from when I last went up to Bluewater on my boyfriend's birthday. I went into Jack Wills and brought socks. Now I know this sounds really silly, but honestly Jack Wills socks are really comfy. They are probably the most comfy socks I actually own. The pair I  Brought were a pack of 2 pink and light blue with white spots all over. They have the Jack Wills logo on the side (which is a pheasant in a top hat and a stick, imagine a rich man back in the 1800's) and have Jack Wills written on the bottom of the socks.

We then went to O'Neill and I brought 2 tops (as they were 2 for £29.99), instead of £45 for both. I got the same top but in different colours as there weren't many tops to choose from in the 2 for £29.99 offer. I wasn't sure how to describe the top so I looked on the website and it calls it Zig Zag Art top. I chose pink and black. When I went up to Bluewater with my boyfriend on his birthday, I saw the pink top and really wanted to buy it but decided not too.

While we were walking around the shops I thought to myself that I wanted to buy an eye primer. Now I love the Urban Decay primer potion, but I wanted to try some other primers to see if they worked as well for my oily lids. I brought the Rimmel Undercover Shadow primer. This is meant to make your eyeshadows waterproof and not smudge throughout the day. I wanted to try this to see if it does as it claims and if so, it means I don't have to spend loads on the Urban Decay primer potion. I suffer with oily lids and the only primer/base I've found which work is the primer potion. I use MAC's paint pot in painterly but my lids still become oily and my eyeshadow creases. When I use a primer and the paint pot together, it doesn't make my shadow crease, and it stays put all day. I will be writing a review on this primer once I've tested it out.

Skincare routine

Hello everyone,

So I've decided that blogging everyday is a little hard, so this week I thought I'd skip the days and start off on Tuesday. I'll be posting every Tuesday and Thursday to make it easier on myself and for you guys.

Today I have my skincare routine, I was going to post a separate blog about my DIY face mask and scrub, but then I thought that they're both skincare so it can go in my skincare blog!

Morning skincare routine-
I start off with my facial wash. This is a new one I'm trying out and it's Sainsburys own brand. From memory I think it cost £2.50, but I could be wrong. It contains vitamin E and avocado oil which helps to nourish and condition your skin.
I then use my dr.organic organic snail gel. I know this sounds gross but it feels amazing on the skin. It contains Helix Aspersa Muller is a unique substance which snails produce to quickly regenerate their own she'll and skin. It contains a balance of beneficial components including Glycolic Acid, Collagen, Elastin, Allantoin, Vitamins and Minerals. I got this in my YouBeauty Discovery box, which is actually a pretty cool box. You get to choose 2 items for £6.95 p+p included, and you get 2 samples as well. It's very much worth the investment.
After I have let the snail gel absorb into my skin, I apply my eye cream. I have done a review on my eye cream and moisturiser so you could go and check that out!
I then apply my moisturiser once the snail gel is completely absorbed. A few times I've put too much snail gel on and then I've gone to apply my moisturiser and it runs off, so only use a small amount and wait till it's fully absorbed!
I will then apply lipbalm and wait 10 minutes before doing my makeup.

Evening skincare routine-
I do pretty much exactly the same as the morning, but I start off using my Micellar water. I use this to remove my eye makeup and any lip products I have on. I really like using the Micellar water as I don't have to rub my eyes when removing the makeup. I hold a soaked cotton pad over my eye, pressing gently on my lid. I will then start moving the pad from side to side very slowly to loosen up the mascara. Once the mascara is loose enough, I sweep the pad down my lashes and keep repeating this, using a new pad if needed, till all my mascara is off.
For a first cleanse I will use my cleansing lotion. I spoke about this in my April favourites so I won't go into too much detail about it. I put a small amount into my hand and warm to product up. I then apply it all over my face using circular motions. Once it is all over my face, I then take damp cotton pads to remove the products.
I then used my facial wash as a second cleanse to make sure all the makeup and cleansing lotion has been removed.
Then I use my snail gel, eye cream, night cream and lipbalm.
While the night cream is sinking into my skin (it's a very thick cream) I put my hair up and it ends up sticking to my face and it feels horrible!

I'm not one for using face masks and I only exfoliate when I feel like my face needs it, so I wanted to try and make my own mask and scrub at home. I went on Pinterest and came across a mask and scrub.
When I was at college, we were taught to exfoliate first and then do the mask at the end of the facial routine. So when I did these the other day that's the order I did it is.

Face Scrub-
You will need 1 tsp honey, 1 tsp olive oil (or any other oil you enjoy using) and 2 tsp sugar. I mixed these together till it became a consistency which I could scrub but wasn't too difficult to use. If this doesn't work for you then add another tsp of olive oil.
Honey is anti-bacterial so helps to fight spots, olive oil is conditioning on the skin and the sugar acts as the abrasive component.

Face Mask-
You will need 1 tsp nutmeg, 1 tsp cinnamon and 2 tsp honey.
Now I'm not too sure why you use nutmeg and cinnamon as it didn't say on the pin, but it felt great on my skin and my skin felt so soft after using this mask. You don't want the mask to be too runny as you won't be able to do anything and will have to sit in the same spot praying it doesn't drip off of your face!
I left this on for 15 minutes (the pin said you can leave it on for half an hour) but it started to tingle my face and I wasn't too keen on the sensation. If you don't get a tingling sensation then leave it on for the full half an hour, but if like me you do, is advise to leave it on for 10-15 minutes.

April favourites

Hello everyone,

If you follow my Instagram (sara_harpum) you would have seen my post this morning, you would have seen that I was planning my April favourites and I wrote in the caption 'I think I'm going to try and blog everyday'. So that's what I'm going to try and do!

I've decided that when I write my monthly favourites, I'm going to divide them into sections. I've come up with 5 sections; beauty, hair care, skincare, food and other. The first three sections are the basics you'd find in a monthly favourite (with a beauty blogger or YouTuber) and the other two sections were ones I thought would be good to include, because I love food and I thought that 'other' would include things like clothes and shoes etc.

So for beauty I have been loving the L'Oréal true match foundation in N1 (Ivory). I was rather late jumping on the band wagon with this foundation because other drugstore foundations I've tried have either been too orange or too pink for my skin. This shade matches me perfectly and I'm glad I picked it up!
Another beauty favourite is mehr from MAC. A few months back my mum said she'd treat me to a MAC lipstick and I had narrowed it down to velvet teddy and mehr. I had decided I wanted mehr but they didn't have it in stock, so I chose velvet teddy. Every time I then went into a MAC, I would ask if they had mehr and every time they said no. I was so gutted and then one day I went into a big department store which sold MaC and asked, and they had one! Every since that day I have always worn mehr when I've gone out.

For hair care I've been loving the Aussie Miracle Shine shampoo and conditioner. I love the smell of this shampoo and conditioner and unlike any other brand, this makes my hair smell great for ages after using it!

For skincare I have been enjoying the Nivea Daily Essentials Refreshing cleansing lotion for normal to combination skin. I use this for a first cleanse when removing my makeup. I take a small amount and rub it in my hands to want it up, then apply it all over my face- except my eyes, and then use damp cotton pads to remove the lotion.
To remove my eye makeup I have been using the Nivea Daily Essential sensitive 3 in 1 Micella cleansing water. I apply a decent amount to a cotton pad and hold it against my eye for 30 seconds to a minute. I then wiggle the pad along my lashes to help loosen the mascara up further and then wipe away gently. This removes my eye makeup fantastically!

I haven't had any favourite foods but one this I did continually eat (which was insanely bad) was McDonalds. I was eating this literally every other night as they had that monopoly promotion on. I was determined to win the holiday but the only thing I got out of it was weight gain and less money.

In the 'other' section, I have been loving my Victoria's Secret scandalous perfume. This was a Christmas present from my boyfriend but I LOVE how it smells! Trust me, if you get the chance, go and smell it! I know Christmas was months ago, but I use it every time i go out!

I will be posting another blog tomorrow. Make sure you keep an eye out for it!

Nivea moisturiser and eye cream review

Hello everyone,

Now I'm not one of these people who moisturises everyday religiously (I know, it's naughty and I should) but I'm trying too! I've tried lots of different moisturisers in the past and they've never seemed to work for me. I mean I'd apply them to my skin and before I was done rubbing it in, the products had already sunk into my skin- and 5 blobs on my face wasn't a good way for it to be sinking in!

I've struggled for ages to find the right moisturiser. I've tried oil free ones due to my combination skin, I've tried hydrating ones because I thought my problems was that skin was too dry, but none of those worked! I'd apply them both morning and night, and in the morning it seemed to sink in too quickly and then when I woke up in the morning after applying it before bed, my face was a massive gease ball!! It wasn't nice!

So one day I was out food shopping with my mum and I mentioned I wanted a new moisturiser and I wanted to start using an eye cream. Now a lot of the higher end products cost a lot of money (and I thought Nivea was a higher end product) but when I got to the moisturisers and eye creams I noticed that Nivea had their products on offer, meaning I could get a day cream, a night cream and an eye cream for the price of 1 higher end product! When I got home I couldn't wait to try to eye cream and the night cream!

That night I did my skincare routine and then applied the eye cream and then the night cream. I apply the eye cream first as its a lighter formula so sinks into my skin quicker. I then went to bed excited to see the results in the morning. When I woke up I ran straight for the mirror to see if my face was all greasy and it wasn't! I was so over the moon that I had finally found a products which didn't leave me waking up greasy! My skin felt so soft after using the night cream so I couldn't wait to try the day cream.

I applied the eye cream and the day cream and let it sink in. My skin felt soft and looked great! I then applied my makeup and went about my daily business. When it came to taking my makeup off I noticed that the lines under my eyes weren't a deep and my makeup hadn't settled in the lines as much anymore (I know, I'm only 19 and I have lines under my eyes :( it sucks!) My skin also didn't look as oily as it used too which is another thing I suffer with due to having combination skin.

I would recommend these products 100%!

Blog planner board

Hello everyone,

So recently I've been lacking in blog writing (I know, I'm sorry!). I decided to take a stand for this and have my blog ideas visually in front of me! I looked up on YouTube and Pinterest and google images 'blog planners' and of course lots of diaries came up, which was what I was using and as I didn't have it in front of me, I was forgetting about my blog!

Another thing which came up in my search was a planner board. I thought this was interesting and a great idea because it meant that I was able to plan my blogs for the week ahead and have them in front of me! A lot of the images on Google were ones you could print off and probably stick on a cork board, but I decided I wanted to use something different.

I looked around my room and found an old photo frame which I wasn't using and had used when I was in college to write down my timetable. I thought to myself this was perfect! The frame is black so o am going to change the colour, I'm just not sure what colour yet so let me know what colour I should paint the frame.

Now as you can see it's looking a little boring, so I decided to buy so coloured whiteboard markers so that it was easy to rub off and because they come in a variety of colours. The pack I got contains black, blue, red and green. They cost £1 from asda, so if this is something you like the idea of then go and buy them!!

I haven't decided which days I'm going to blog, but it'll be 2 days outta the week. I'm thinking maybe Tuesday and Thursday as I can write and plan blogs over the weekend for the following week. I may change it to 3 days a week but for the moment I've decided 2 days will be a good amount (this week will have 3 because of this blog).

This blog planner board will eventually be hanging up on my wall above my desk, I just haven't got round to doing that yet, but I will soon!

Morning routine

Hello everyone,

On Friday I met my nan and then went to my boyfriends house. I thought it would be a good time to do a morning routine.

I started my morning off by calling up justfab to get a refund. Long story shory, they don't tell you about a membership till after you've signed up, and if you don't skip the month they charge you £35. I had skipped the month, but according to them I didn't, but they still gave me a refund and I canceled my membership.

After I had called them up I went for a shower. I used TRESemmé vitamin E moisture rich shampoo and conditioner. I really like the smell of this shampoo and conditioner but it doesn't last long. Once I had finished in the shower, I went into my room and used my Nivea daily essential Q10 plus anti-wrinkle eye cream and Nivea daily essential light moisturising day cream for normal to combination skin. Once I have let that sink in I do my makeup. I apply the products which I mentioned the other day, I just didn't apply eyeshadow and I've changed mascara to the too faced mascara.

I then picked out what I was going to wear. I chose black leggings with black ankle boots (the ones I wore in London) and a black dress. I didn't have any time to do anything to my hair so I used the cars A/C to dry in whilst on the way to the train station. When I arrived in Maidstone, we went for lunch (as it had gone 12). We choose to go to Pizza Hut which was delicious. It was also noisy as a bunch of year 11 had finished school so we're having lunch with loud music playing. I enjoyed the music obviously but not the screeching of 16 year olds!

After we had lunch, we went to boots. I have a bit of an addition with boots and will look at all the makeup without buying anything. I actually needed to buy some miceller water from garnier. They have a smaller bottle of it which was perfect for leaving at my boyfriends house. They also had some false nails on sale for £2 so I also got them. After we had been to boots we just walked around and looked in other shops. We then went for a coffee and sat there for a while just passing the time for the buses. We then went to primark and I got some trousers, a top which is pink and says 'I only speak chic'. I also got some flats which I left at my boyfriends house so I have some shoes at his (as I always seem to pack the wrong shoes!)

Once we had been to primark I went to catch my bus. I was waiting for ages and was getting really frustrated as it takes ages on the bus to get to my boyfriends anyway. The bus finally turned up and my boyfriend was waiting for me at the bus stop where I got off. We went to his house and just relaxed and chilled out. We then went out to the shops for dinner but ended up getting a pot noodle as it was coming up 11pm. After we had eaten them, we went upstairs and finished watching the other guys as we didn't finish it all last Sunday. By the time it had finished it was 1:30am so we went straight to sleep as we were really tired.

I'll be posting a review blog tomorrow on the eye cream and both moisturisers I got the other week.

Speak to you later,

Brighton grwm

Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven't blogged in a few days. I've been really busy. I had a job interview on Monday and I've been out and about the rest of the time.

I've decided to combine two of the blogs I was going to do for you into one. I was going to do a get ready with me for the drum and bass event I went too and a half up half down hairstyle blog (I know that sounds easy but I thought why not). I'm putting these two together because that's how I wore my hair on Sunday so it made sense to put them together.

My day started really late, my boyfriend and I didn't get up till almost 1 in the afternoon because we were shattered from London the day before. Once I was awake we went and got brunch (I guess because of the time) and sat downstairs talking and on our phones. I was playing games and checking social media (sara_harpum for Instagram and saralouise__95 for Twitter if you want to follow).

I started getting ready by having a shower so my hair could air dry, so I wasn't putting loads of heat on my hair. I exfoliated and washed my face while in the shower so I had a nice, clean base when it came to doing my makeup later on. While my hair was air drying we started to watch a film seeing as we didn't have much time before we needed to get ready and because we had wasted the day away by being lazy! We chose to watch the other guys and ordered a Chinese (because we're lazy and couldn't be bothered to cook, plus it made sense as we were going out).

Once the food had arrived and the film was on, I started to do my makeup. I started on my eyes as I wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any fall out. I used MACs paint pot in painterly to prime my eyes and then set it with my face powder. I do this because I have really oily eyelids and I find doing this helps to prevent my shadows for creasing. All over my lid I placed sin from the naked palette by urban decay. In my crease I used tease from the naked 2 palette and took blackheart from the naked 3 palette on the outter V of my eye in a C shape and blended it all together. I was kinda going for a smokey eye without being too smokey and I liked how it turned out. I took tease again to soften everything up and to define my crease even more. I then took blackheart and sweeped it across my bottom lash line. Then I went on to fill in my brows. For this I used the soap and glory archery pencil and went over the top with my Anastasia Beverly Hills dipbrow pomade in soft brown.

Once I had done my eyes and brows, I went on to do the rest of my face makeup. I used the benefit porefessional primer so that my makeup would stay on all night. I then used my L'Oréal true match foundation with a damp makeup sponge and applied that all over my face. For extra coverage on all the spots which have appeared out of nowhere on my forehead and chin I used the bourjois healthy mix concealer. I set all my makeup with the maybelline matte maker powder. For contour I used the bourjois bronzing powder and highlighter. I highlighted my cheekbones with the highlighter in the kit. I like this highlighter as it's subtle and doesn't look too 'in your face'. If I had wanted an 'in your face' highlighter, I would have used my Bobbi Brown highlighter in beige. I applied peach Melba blush by natural collection to the apples of my cheeks. I like this blusher for all year round as it suits my skin tone well.

Once my face makeup was complete I then went on to my lips. I first prepped my lips with Lush cosmetics mint julips. I'm still trying this product out so can't give a mini review but so far I like it. After prepping my lips I used some lip balm till I decided to put lipstick on later.

After I had completed my makeup, I then ate the Chinese and watched the film. When it was almost time to leave I did my hair. I chose to do this after we had eaten as I didn't want to do my hair then slouch on the bed while watching the film and mess it up. I started my straightening my hair as I prefer this hairstyle with straight hair (if you prefer curly hair then use curly hair with it. I did your standard half up half down style after straightening my hair. After putting my hair up, I sorted my fringe out and then lifted little sections in the ponytail (if that's what it's called. Probably because it's still a small ponytail), and I started to backcomb the sections. I didn't go crazy on the back combing as my longer fringe pieces stick up (as I found out Sunday!) I teased it slightly so it looked like it had more volume in the top. I took about 4/5 sections of hair and did this till I was satisfied with the results.

For my outfit I wore;
  • Black and white print trousers from primark (£8)
  • Black top with lace sides from forever 21 (£7)
  • Cardigan from forever 21 (I brought this last year so don't know the price)
  • Bag from forever 21 (£15)
  • Nike Air Force 1 (I brought these a few years ago so don't know the price)

I'm hoping to post a morning routine tomorow. If it's not up tomorow night, it'll be up Saturday morning.

Speak to you soon,
Sara xoxo

OOTD

Hello everyone,

I know I didn't post yesterday but seeing as I posted twice the day before I kinda thought it was okay not to post a blog. Plus the blog was going to be a first impressions blog but I've decided to try it out to give you a full review.

Anyway today I went up to London with my boyfriend and decided today would be the perfect day to write an OOTD blog. OOTD stands for outfit of the day (in case some of you didn't know, but I'm sure you all knew that!) I thought I'd tell you where I got each item from and how much they cost (so that you all know if you want to go and buy anything).

My coat is from primark. I brought this yesterday as it was meant to rain today and I haven't got a little rainmac. It was £9 so I thought why not seeing as it can be packed away into one of the pockets, I thought it would come in handy during the spring and summer months. It isn't very warm so I'd advise wearing something thick underneath. I was frozen today!
My dress is from Zara, I also brought it yesterday so today's the first time I've worn it. I love this dress! I wasn't too sure at first because it's ever flowy and I prefer dresses which are fitted. It cost £25.99.
My shoes are from Deichmann. I used to work there so I got them for 20%. I think originally they cost £24.99 but I could be wrong so don't hold me to it (I will find out the definite price and change this blog if needs be). They're just plain black lace up boots and I love them! They're so comfy to wear and keep my feet warm.

I will be posting a sorta get ready with me blog tomorow. I'm going out in the evening to a drum and bass event in Brighton with my boyfriend and his friends so I'll be showing you my makeup, outfit and hair!

L'Oréal true match foundation review

Hello everyone,

I have been trying out the L'Oréal true match foundation lately as I've noticed its used by a lot of youtubers. I've wanted to try it for a long time but always gave second thoughts because I have combination skin. I get really oily in my t-zone but I'm dry on my forehead, cheeks and nose.

I always have an issue with trying to figure out what colour I am in the drugstore. It's a lot easier to match your foundation at somewhere like MAC or Dior as they sit you down and try a bunch of foundation shades on you, but at the drugstore you just have to eyeball it and sorta guess. I picked the shade N1 (Ivory) which actually matches my skin tone perfectly, which is surprising as I struggle to find foundations which matches my neck to my face (my face is darker than my neck, weird I know). I do feel like I could have gone a shade darker but I didn't want to risk it and once I got home and tried it out, it matched really well and evened out my odd situation.

This foundation has a very good coverage, and can have more that one layer to increase the coverage you already have. I pumped it twice onto the back of my hand and applied it with my damp real techniques sponge. The two pumps covered the whole of my face, and it surprised me as I thought I'd need more as it didn't look like much. After I have applied the first layer, I use half a pump as concealer. I did this as I wanted to see how well the coverage was. I did this under my eyes and on all my problem areas. It covered it great, but I feel like if I want a more heavy coverage then I will use concealer. I then finish the rest of my makeup.

I found this foundation works really well with my combination skin. It doesn't stick to the dry patches and it stays matte for most of the day.

Mehr dupe

Hello everyone,

I know I said I'd post this last night but it had slipped out my mind and I lost total track of time!

I went into MAC a few months ago and was looking for a new lipstick. I wasn't sure which one to get so I asked people on this app called 'makeupsocial' to ask people for their favourites or which one I should go for. Nearly everyone said velvet teddy (which I didn't own), a few said ruby woo (which I do own) and another person mentioned mehr. I hadn't heard of this colour before so I thought I'd look for it and see if I liked it.

When I got there I found velvet teddy pretty much straight away and asked to try it on. I liked how it looked on me and I loved the consistancy. I then looked for mehr. Once I found it I asked if I was able to try it on (of course I had taken velvet teddy off!) I loved how it looked on me, it went with my skin tone well (as the person recommended it said) and it was the perfect shade. I was going to buy mehr but they were all out, so I brought velvet teddy instead.

I was so bummed about MAC not having it in stock that I went on a search for a colour similar to mehr (the finish didn't have to be the same). I tried so many colours which looked similar in the tribe but on my hand next to it, it looked completely different. I was going to give up and try another day but I then saw revlon colourburst matte balm in sultry sulfureuse (225). I tested this on the back of my hand and it looked almost identical! I mean I could get away with wearing it instead of mehr and people would think it was MAC.

I obviously still wanted mehr so every time I went to a MAC store I would ask and each time the answer was no. It didn't bother me that much though, as I had my dupe for the time being till I was able to find mehr. I then tried in house of Fraser on the MAC counter there and they had it! I finally got my hands on mehr! I was over the moon with excitement! My search for mehr was over!

When I got home I tested them out next to each other and mehr is slightly lighter in colour (I think they've changed the formular slightly as it was almost identical), but it's still pretty close, I'd say it's still almost identical, but you can be the judge of that!
In the picture, the top colour is the revlon colourburst and the bottom is MAC mehr. Pretty close I'd say!

I hope this has helped you in case you've been looking for mehr and haven't been able to find it.

If you would like anymore dupe blogs or have seen a colour you like and they haven't got it in stock (eyeshadows, lipstick, lipgloss, blusher etc) then let me know and I'll try my hardest to find a dupe for it! I can't always promise that the dupe will be cheaper, but I will try and find cheaper products for you guys!

New blog name

Hello everyone,

I thought I'd give you an update as to why my name has changed. I felt it was more appropriate to change it seeing as I just had any old name (this one is more beauty based). Contour in the city sounded much better (well it did in my head anyway), and I thought it was a better name.
I also felt like the old name was the reason I didn't want to write blogs, because it wasn't beauty related and it was a standard name. With this new name I have decided that I WILL blog everyday! And if I miss a day, there will be two blogs in one day to make up for the missing blog.
I hope I haven't confused you all with the name change, but I will put more effort into this blog. I feel like I have abandoned this blog and I don't want to just forget about it.

I have a blog that I'll be writing later about a dupe for MAC mehr matte lipstick (wow that was a mouthful!)

Talk to you later,
Sara xoxo

Easter makeup!

Hello everyone,

I know I'm a week late but it's better late than never really isn't it?

Here is the makeup I decided to do on Sunday for Easter. I didn't do anything but it's always fun to do your makeup and Easter isn't an exception.
As my base I used the Bourjois CC cream, I didn't use any concealer as I wanted my base to be very natural. I used the BeautyUK cream contour kit wand went over the contour with a powder bronzer to set it.
To set the rest of my face makeup I used the maybelline matte maker mattifying powder. Blush was natural collection in peach Melba.
I primed my eyes with MAC paint pot in painterly. I set that with my face powder as I have really oily eyelids and finds this helps to keep them set. For eyeshadow, I used my naked 3 palette as I finds it compliments my eye colour well (green eyes really stand out with this palette!) I used buzz all over my lid and used nooner in my crease. I blended and added and blended and added (and so on) till I got the desired opacity.
Once I had done my eye makeup I did my brows. For my brows I use the soap and glory archery pencil in hot chocolate and my ABH dipbrow in soft brown. To set my brows I used the maybelline browdrama in medium brown.
I used benefit they're real! Mascara and sweeped nooner along the bottom lashes.
To finish the look off I used velvet teddy on my lips.

Sorry I didn't blog for a week guys, but hay I did say I'd blog when I can and this is the first time I've been able too since Easter. Plus it's not like it's 3 months later is it?

Speak next time,
Sara xoxo

Update in my life

Hello everyone,

I am currently sat on my bed, writing this blog and studying. I live such an amazing life! (that was a joke guys, I don't really live an amazing life). I thought I'd update you with what's been going on over the last couple of days.
I have come to the conclusion that I will never have any money whatsoever! I have been trying out the cream contour kit and I am in love! It looks so natural and doesn't feel thick like I thought it would. I will be posting a review on that within the next few days (don't hold me to that! But for you guys I will try my hardest!) I am also deciding on what makeup I shall be doing for my Easter makeup look (I might post the contour kit review in with that because then I know I've done it) and I'm struggling with what colours to do. Shall I go netural eye or shall I do colour? Its so difficult because if I'm not going out then I'll wear colour, but if I'm going out somewhere I'll be too scared to wear colour. What do you guys think I should do? Comment what look you'd like to see!
I have also decided that I will be posting updates on my teaching assistant course too, just in case anyone is interested in doing a teaching assistant course or is wondering what is involved then I'll write a whole post on where I found mine, how I came about deciding that it was what I wanted to do and so on.

Anyway, I'm logging off now to complete some work as I'm sat here on the laptop! my next blog will be my Easter makeup and what I wore on Easter Sunday!
Speak to you next time,
Sara xo

Bourjois 123 perfect CC cream review

Hello everyone,

I know I've been missing over the last few days and haven't posted everyday like I said I would. I've decided that I'll blog as often as I can and if it happens to be two days in a row then that's fine!

Anyway, I have a review on the Bourjois 123 perfect CC cream.
WOW, I mean what more can I say? It feels amazing on my skin. It covers everything, only slightly so it looks like your skin but better, but still! I can't even find a concealer which will cover my under eye circles and this does! It has 3 pigments in which colour corrects (hence the name CC cream, Colour Correction. You get me? Am I making sense?) It has Apricot to help fight anti-fatigue, Green to help fight anti-redness (green is the opposite colour to red on the colour chart, therefore it cancels it out) and White to help fight anti-dark spots. I can totally agree with the anti-redness as I suffer with acne so it's difficult finding something to cover up redness (without smothering my face in green) but this really does cover up the redness around my spots- sorry for sounding gross! It just makes your skin feel and look flawless, but I will give you some advice...

If like me you suffer from combination/oily skin, I'd advise pressing your powder into your skin after applying the CC cream, then blotting your face and powdering again. I only learnt this trick the other day. I applied the CC cream and because I had over exfoliated my skin was very oily, I blotted after applying my CC cream and then pressed the powder in. after wearing it for the day I was very shiny by the time it came to taking it off. So today I applied my CC cream, pressed the powder into my skin, blotted then powdered again and my skin doesn't look anywhere near as oily as it did yesterday (it is currently 8:30pm).

I have another review for you next time. I ordered the BeautyUK cream contour kit so I'll be trying that out for you and will be writing a review very soon!

No blog yesterday

Hello everyone,

I know I said I'd post every day and I didn't yesterday. I was out of the house looking and applying for jobs which meant that I didn't have time to write a blog post. I then went out for dinner in the evening so it was difficult to write a post as it was late.

Anyway, over the next few days I will (hopefully) be purchasing the Bourjois 123 perfect colour correcting cream. When I have purchased this I will do a first impressions blog about the colour, feel on my skin, how it looks etc. and then after I have worn it a few times I'll be posting a review on the CC cream.
I will also have another item to do a first impression and review on. I ordered the BeautyUK cream contour kit as I haven't got the money (or will to wait) for the Anastasia Beverly Hills cream contour kit. I thought to myself that for the time being this will do me, and at £4.99 who wouldn't buy it?! Once I have the money I will be buying the Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit and I'll do a comparison blog, letting you know how similar or different it is and if it is a dupe for the ABH contour kit.

Talk to you next time,
Sara xo

Introduction

Hello everyone,

I've decided (3rd blog attempt!) that I will keep a blog going!

I thought I'd introduce myself, explain my blog name and explain about this blog.
My name is Sara, I have a passion for makeup and would love to work on a makeup counter, but for the time being I'm studying to become a teaching assistant. Even if I don't work on a makeup counter I can still do my passion through blogging and hopefully a YouTube channel one day.
My blog name; well I don't really know what inspired it, I guess it's just the order of how I do things. I wake up and I do my makeup. I don't really drink coffee, but hopefully I'm getting a job in a coffee shop while I'm studying so I thought it was appropriate. I also thought the name was unique and different from anyone else.
This blog is going to be dedicated to beauty. I'll have beauty demos, reviews, hauls, just anything beauty related! I will also be posting updates on my teaching assistant course to let you guys know how I'm getting on and if it was worth the money! I'm going to try to write a blog post everyday but don't shoot me if I don't! I'll try and blog as much as I can!

Anyway, I'll speak to you guys later!
